On Saturday, 13th of March 2010 the La Motte estate, situated in the beautiful Valley of Franschhoek, will host the Cape Town Tango Ensemble for their annual Harvest-time concert. The Cape Town Tango Ensemble, with their interpretations of Argentine dances, have gained international acclaim and are well worth seeing perform.
The ensemble explores the mixing between African Rhythms and sounds with the ‘Tango Nuevo’ style. This is the reason behind the name of their album ‘Tango in Africa’. In 1996, Stanislav Anguelov started the ensemble as an accordion and piano duo with the intention to perform music at concerts. During 2000, the double bass was added and since 2001 the violin has became as important as all of the other instruments – all of which have blended seamlessly to shape the perfect combination for the Tango.
At the Harvest-time concert, which will be held in La Motte’s historical cellar which is renowned for its excellent acoustics – the ensemble will play compositions which include works by the celebrated tango composer Piazolla. These compositions are very seldom performed in public, and to make the occasion even more special, this concert will also celebrate the launch of the group’s second CD.
Guests will receive a welcome glass of La Motte wine on arrival and a finger dinner will be served at the end of the performance.
The concert starts at 7pm and entrance is R125, 00 per person. La Motte is situated on the R45 just outside Franschhoek, approximately 45 minutes drive from Cape Town.
Bookings for the concert can be made at the La Motte tasting venue or by phoning 021 876 8801 for Angela. Visit - www.la-motte.com for more information. We regret that no refunds can be made if the booking is cancelled and the bookings are only valid after receipt of admission.
