Internationally acclaimed tenor, Christoph Genz, will perform at the La Motte estate in Franschhoek on Saturday, 20th of February 2010. Genz has performed as Lieder (piano and voice in equal artistic partnership) and oratorio (usually based upon a religious theme, for solo voices performed without action, costume, or scenery) singer in the most famous concert halls throughout Europe and America. His performance at La Motte will be a treat for all who attend.
Genz, as soloist, will sing Lieder by Schumann and Chopin – both of whose birth year will be commemorated in 2010 – as well as duets with Reiner Schneider-Waterberg. Genz received his first musical training as a member of the St.Thomas’ Boys Choir in Leipzig. He appears regularly at prestigious festivals and has given recitals at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Louvre in Paris, the Wigmore Hall in London and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
Genz and Schneider-Waterberg will be accompanied by Cornelia Herrmann on piano. Herrmann was born into a family of musicians in Salzburg and studied with Imre Rohmann in Salzburg. In 1996 she was the youngest finalist and winner of the International J. S. Bach Competition in Leipzig.
This concert will be presented in La Motte’s historical cellar. Guests will be welcomed with a glass of La Motte wine upon arrival and, when the performance has ended, a light finger dinner will be served.The concert starts at 7pm and entrance is R125, 00 per person.
