Our latest wine can celebrate its own arrival Introducing the 2007 La Motte Méthode Cap Classique Brut - 31/03/10

La Motte, one of South Africa’s oldest and most prestigious wine estates that is home to some of South Africa’s finest wines, has just launched their first Méthode Cap Classique (MCC).

The 2007 La Motte Méthode Cap Classique Brut originates from Franschhoek and is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, both of which are produced on the La Motte farm.  The Chardonnay was planted in 1997 and the Pinot Noir in 1985, and the vineyards in which they are grown were SGS Certified Organic in April 2009.

Once harvested, the grape bunches were whole-pressed and the juice was allowed to settle, following which the clear juice was cool-fermented. Fermentation was followed by blending in the ratio 55% Pinot Noir to 45% Chardonnay.

“The wine shows a typical champagne colour, with a very fine, lively mousse,” describes La Motte winemaker, Edmund Terblanche. “The nose has golden delicious apple fruit, complemented by yeasty dough and biscuit aromas while the palate is as lively, with a creamy balanced finish,” he explains.
