Celebrating Art in Clay with A Sense of…

La Motte enjoys sharing its passion for art, wine and food and this year for the annual Franschhoek Art in Clay Festival, the estate stays true to this ethos with an inspirational exhibition entitled, A Sense of …

This group exhibition in the La Motte Maturation Cellar features 20 local ceramicists, showcasing bespoke ceramic pieces inspired by wine from La Motte’s acclaimed portfolio. The diverse and personal interpretations of the various wines find expression in visual manifestations of the wine and are represented in different styles, techniques and attributes of clay.

The exhibition features ceramicists John Bauer, Ceramic Matters (Anthony Harris & Gerhard Swart), Laura du Toit, Christo Giles, Diane Harper, Amelia Jacobs, Hilda Kruger, Nico Liebenberg, Hennie Meyer, Ineke Nicolle, Betsy Nield, Lisa Ringwood, Janie Siebert, Clementina van der Walt, Kate van Putten, Sue van Rensburg, Helen Vaughan, David Walters and Sarah Walters.

A Sense of … runs from 21 October until 12 December 2016 and can be viewed in the La Motte Maturation Cellar from Monday to Saturday, 09:00 – 17:00, as well as on Sundays, 4 and 11 December 2016, 09:00 – 17:00.

As an addition to the exhibition, and incorporating the three passions of art, wine and food, the gastronomic creativity of Pierneef à La Motte Restaurant’s Chef Michelle Theron as well as the culinary inspiration of the commissioned ceramicists resulted in the design of a new execution to the estate’s award-winning Food and Wine Tasting. This special edition of the La Motte Food and Wine Tasting will be presented on Friday mornings at 10:00, for the duration of the exhibition. The tasting is presented in Pierneef à La Motte Restaurant, costs R130 per person and is available for up to 15 people per session. Reservations are essential and have to be made 48 hours in advance: Online T +27 (0)21 876 8820 E tasting@la-motte.co.za
