Commis Chef

La Motte in the Franschhoek Valley requires a vibrant person, with an abundance of energy and enthusiasm to join the team in the Bakery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Measuring meal ingredients for the Chefs
  • Preparing meal ingredients, which includes seasoning of different meats as well as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits
  • Preparing basic salads and sauces as directed by the Chefs
  • Taking inventory when needed
  • Discarding expired and spoiled food items stored in the stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers
  • Performing basic cleaning duties and ensuring that workstations are properly sanitized
  • Plating and presenting meal items as per the Chef’s instructions.

  • Degree or diploma in culinary arts / formal chefs training

Wine-tasting ambassador

We are seeking a dedicated person with a positive outlook and spontaneous personality, who has excellent knowledge of the South African wine industry, is required to join the Marketing and Sales team of La Motte Wine Estate in the Franschhoek Valley.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Welcoming of guests to the La Motte Tasting Room
  • Sharing information about La Motte and its products, the Franschhoek area, and the South African wine industry
  • Presenting wine-tastings and cellar tours
  • Handling of wine sales and relevant administration
  • Assisting with marketing activities

Hospitality Manager

La Motte Wine Estate and Leopard’s Leap Wines in the Franschhoek Valley are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hospitality Manager to oversee all aspects of our Hospitality operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and a proven track record of leadership in the hospitality industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • overseeing the day-to-day operations of all hospitality departments (including Leopard’s Leap Wines, La Motte Bakery, and JAN Franschhoek)
  • staff management
  • develop and implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and exceed service standards
  • recruit, train, and supervise hospitality staff to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service
  • collaborate with other departments to coordinate seamless guest experiences
  • compile and monitor annual budget
  • oversee cost control measures to maximise profitability
  • stay updated on industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement
  • ad hoc administrative duties

Desktop Support Technician

Historic Wines of the Cape requires the services of a positive, enthusiastic, and service-orientated person to join the IT Department in Franschhoek.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Windows and Mac hardware fault-finding and support
  • Windows and Mac maintenance
  • PC setup and assistance to PC users on the network, locally and remotely, with day-to-day IT problems and tasks
  • Assistance with printer-related matters (installation and service)
  • Loading of correct software onto users’ machines before delivery
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting of technical issues, including account setup and network configuration
  • Managing telephone system and configuration of phones
  • Managing Wi-Fi systems and configuration of access points
  • Assist users with work related cell phone problems

Applications are awaited from persons who comply with the following:

  • Grade 12 qualification
  • A+ and N+ certification
  • IT Diploma or MCITP/MCSE would be an advantage
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Driver’s license and own transport (will need to travel between sites)
  • Knowledge of 3CX IP systems and Yealink phones
  • Knowledge and experience with setting up and managing Wi-Fi Access Points (Unify, Aruba, Cambium)
  • Knowledge of networking and managing switches (Aruba)
  • Overtime and standby will be required on occasions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
  • Ability to work independently
