La Motte Wine Estate has again been recognised for its efforts with sustainability. At the Nedbank Green Wine Awards, presented from The Vineyard Hotel on Thursday, 16 October, the estate was announced to be the Overall winner in the category for Best Farming Practices, while also winning the categories for Best contribution to community development and Best (sustainable) contribution to tourism for the various activities at the estate that allow guests to experience sustainability first hand.

The Nedbank Green Wine Awards, launched in 2009, were created to acknowledge the efforts and significant successes that local wine producers and farmers have achieved with their conservation initiatives.

“Conservation is something that is extremely important to us as a family,” says Hein Koegelenberg, CEO of La Motte, “and we are humbled and proud to be recognized in this way.”

“Since the inception of these awards, our primary objective has been to recognise and reward those wine producers in our country that put the well-being of the environment, the planet, and its people first,” said Sydney Mbhele, Divisional Executive for Integrated Marketing at Nedbank. “We therefore applaud each and every entry received in this year’s Green Wine Awards. While only one winner could be selected today, we appreciate all of the efforts that have been undertaken by local winemakers and their investment in sustainable business practices so that the green wines of today can be enjoyed by the generations of tomorrow.”
