Sarita Uranovsky (violin) and Tetia Visser-Downie (piano)

Sarita Uranovsky

Currently pursuing a concert and teaching career in the United States of America, Sarita Uranovsky, a native of Cape Town, began playing the violin at age 7. Since her debut at the age of 15, she has appeared as soloist with various orchestras across the globe and in recital on stages worldwide.

Me Uranovsky has been Concertmaster of the Orchestra Geminiani de Fallonica (Italy), the RSAMD Symphony Orchestra (UK) and Assistant Concertmaster of the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra. She performed regularly for Sir Yehudi Menuhin’s “Live Music Now!” scheme while in the United Kingdom and appeared as first violinist of the RSAMD Quartet in concert for HRH Prince Charles, HRH Princess Anne and at the church of St.Martin-in-the-Fields.

Her appearance at La Motte is part of her first South African concert tour on which she is accompanied on piano by Tertia Visser-Downie. The recital includes two of the most popular and beloved works in the entire violin repertoire: Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata no. 1 in F minor and Brahms’ Violin Sonata no. 3 in D minor. They will also perform the Estonian composer Arvo Part’s short, but hauntingly beautiful Spiegel am Spiegel.
